Well, the first truck crossed the border at about 6pm CDT on Friday evening. The driver was the owner of the company based in Neuvo Leon. I pray that he understands the gravity of what he has done, what he has been a party to. You see, this issue goes beyond what is obvious. The Mexican people are really as much the victims as we in the USA are. They have to endure extreme hardships that are created by the Mexican Ruling class. They are repressed to the point of abject poverty and forced ignorance caused by a system that forces them to seek a better life in the USA. The government and the underclass of Mexico have no tangent. This abusive patriciate manipulates the people it is supposed to benefit. They are a primary reason why so many of Mexico's citizens have arrived in our nation without our consent. These illegal aliens are an invading force that seems to be driven by personal need and the desire to better their own lives. While, in actuality, they are sent by the Mexican government to ensure that the largest industry in Mexico does not fail. This industry is the passing of raw currency from the USA to Mexico. In 2005 money sent from the USA to Mexico passed oil as Mexico's greatest source of export income.(1) President Calderon and his administration know this.
'Criticizing the United States for its treatment of illegal Mexican immigrants has become routine for most Mexican politicians, including Mr. Calderón. Because the immigrants send home about $20 billion a year and because the yearly migration of more than 400,000 people relieves Mexico of masses of the poor, the government here has little incentive either to stem the migration northward or to support stricter measures making it harder for Mexicans to cross the border.' I understand the plight of the Mexican underclass. In 1993 I spent many months in Mexico. I was at the beginning of a long and drawn out breakup in my marriage where my desire to find solace in the tranquil waters of Baja California found me in Ensenada for several months. I became friends with a number of fine people there and even considered trying to live in Baja. I was in Love with the people, the place and society in general. The Mexican people are a beautiful, resourceful and brilliant people. When I would go to Mexico with my sailboat, I was required to inform the Mexican consulate in San Diego, and buy an annual fishing permit even though I had no desire to fish and had no fishing equipment aboard. But these were the rules, Mexico is a sovereign nation as is the United States. Our laws and our customs must be honored. This is where I am having an issue with the Mexican Government. (2) If I entered into Mexico without the consent of the governing authority, I would be levied a heavy fine and even possibly put in jail for an undetermined amount of time. Mexican government officials are lambasting our right as a nation to govern its self. (2) Mexican officials are even assisting the desperate underclass of the Mexican nation escape their plight in Mexico and come to the US. (3) When a Mexican truck crosses into the USA how do we know that the people in that truck are returning to Mexico? We have no way of knowing. The lure of the work in the USA is a great temptation.
The only way that Mexico will ever stem the tide of illegal migration into our nation is when its government stops relying on the money its citizens send back from the USA and when the people of Mexico stand up and take their country back. When Mexico defeated France and the Federation was formed, it was an opportunity to for the people to truly rule as a democracy. But, unfortunately, the wealthy land barons took over and the current system was formed. Education is the key. The ruling class and the Mexican Government have kept the people of Mexico in servitude for so long, It is going to require those who Love Mexico to stay there and make it work. Educate the people, make them yearn for all the gifts of liberty. Those who leave Mexico for the quick American dollar which is provided by the duplicitous American companies seeking their labor north of the border are doing the country they love an injustice. If you sincerely believe in 'Viva Mexico' you would be doing more for the nation of Mexico. President Calderon even said it this way:
'It is possible to transform Mexico, but it cannot be done by decree' (2) NY Times, 9/3/2007
He is right. The only way this problem will be fixed is by the popular efforts of the underclass of Mexico.
If we continue the struggle that we have undertaken, we, no doubt, will experience hardship. But in the words of Thomas Jefferson:
'We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.'
If we do not participate in this effort, we are like a leaf in a fast moving current. We become a vessel without steerage, without control of our direction, a ship that eventually will be cast against the rocks of a tyrannical government. Our fore fathers knew that this would be a possibility. That is why the
As we speak, the economy of our nation begins to falter. For the first time in four years overall payroll has declined in the USA. This is not good. Truck tonnage is down. We are seeing the start of a significant downturn in our economy. We can not afford to give away our freight.
