What is all the fuss?
(updated 9/8/2007)
I guess it comes down to one thing. We have not been consulted about this change and this poorly considered plan is flawed in so many ways that we MUST stop it. Back in the days before the American Revolution, in a town called Boston, we made a brazen move to demonstrate our resolve and to make sure the governing authority realized what was going to happen if we were ignored further. Reports at the time said that the water of Boston Harbor was brown with the tea thrown over by patriots who had enough of the taxation that had been forced on us without our consent. One of the primary tenants of this country's existence is that the government of the United States of America operates "BY" the consent of the people. In this case, this has NOT occurred. The legal process has been circumvented by a new tyranny that must be reversed. AT this time, the only step, as I see it, is to bombard the senate, the House of Representatives and the Executive Branch with correspondence, faxes, emails and phone calls.
There are four issues as I see them: (I will expand on each of these further by tomorrow)
1. National Security
There is NO way to ensure that the holder of the drivers license presented at the border for identification is really that person. Is it Raul or is it really Ahmed? At this moment millions of tons of freight is being pulled from the ports of this country in containers. currently, we are unable to track these shipments and only a VERY small percent of this cargo has been inspected to ensure it won't explode in a nuclear fireball in the middle of your home town.(...more to come)
2. Economic
The American trucking industry will suffer because of the economic impact of these moves by our government.(...more to come)
3. Road Safety
Currently, there is No system of checks in Mexico to verify identity, driving history, safety record or the drug testing of the drivers slated to cross into your state. All drivers with a Commercial Drivers License in the United States of America have to go through this vetting. It only stands to reason to any person with the ability for rational thought that drivers from Mexico should be required to meet the minimum requirements Canadian and American Drivers must.(...more to /come)
4. Health
With no system in place to ensure the health of the drivers coming into your hometown, we can be assured that there will be an increase in the diseases that have already begun to raise their ugly heads in the once safe American community. Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, and other once rare contagious diseases are on the rise. Mostly from the increase in illegal immigration into the United States from our southern border. A Commercial Drivers License holder in the United States of America must go through an ever more difficult battery of tests to obtain and then keep the Commercial Drivers License that is the source of his income. The Men, Women and children of this nation will be subjected to exposure to many diseases once thought eradicated.(...more to come)
What can you do?
Use the information on this website! Contact us so that we know that we are being heard.
If the changes do not come by Legislation or from the courts, it is up to us! We will then know that we can't rely on the talking heads in Washington. The driver MUST do what is required to stay alive. We MUST Stop the destruction of our Nation, and our Industry.
The last option is to shut down. If we must, shut your truck down for as long as you can! We will be shutting down starting on 12 September 2007
Later today, We will have a Chatroom, Contact Information and News about what is happening around the country.
GOD BLESS AMERICA! GOD BLESS THE AMERICAN TRUCK DRIVER
